At the dawn of time, people had to save their food. In the past this process took a lot of time and energy, but in winter he preferred to starve. Early methods of food preservation included drying, smoking, fermentation and freezing. Subsequent methods include salting with salt or acid to marinate food. None of these methods was perfect, and the search for a faster and more reliable method continued.

What is canning?
Preservation is the preservation of cooked food by sealing it in tins or jerry cans. The specific methods used by our ancestors to produce food are unknown, but they are practices that have been used for centuries.
Fortunately, the invention of a modern preservation machine has made the preservation process much simpler and less time-consuming. In fact, you can buy an electrical board now, but I can’t tell my grandmother :).

What is a pressure cylinder?
Simply put, a pressure vessel can be defined as a device used for home canning. The process consists of sealing the food in cans, after which the cans are placed in the can. Most cans are oversized, pressurized containers that bring the temperature of the food in the cans far above boiling point for a period of time. Normally the pressure protection at home is done at 240 degrees Fahrenheit.
With the pressure drum you get three things in particular:
- Oxygen removal. The appliance removes all oxygen from the can that can damage the food.
- Heat sterilization. All bacteria that can affect the safety or integrity of food die.
- Bank seals. As soon as the air is removed from the can, a vacuum is created in the can so that nothing can penetrate the newly created sterile environment into the can.
Modern pressure cannons are light, thin-walled kettles, which usually have lids with gaskets. Most modern guns have detachable racks, an automatic ventilation system and/or lid lock, a ventilation tube and a safety catch.
Pressure guns are also equipped with a pressure gauge, which is used for pressure indication, or a weighted pressure gauge, which is used for pressure indication and control.
The middle box is deep enough to hold one layer of quartz boxes or two layers of boxes the size of a little finger. According to the USDA, your can must be large enough to contain at least 4 quarterly doses that can be classified as cans. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USDA) also strongly recommends that you only purchase cans with the Underwriter’s Laboratory for Pressure Tin Safety label.
How to use the Print Drum
Stainless steel cans may seem intimidating at first glance, but if treated properly, they are absolutely safe to use. Each manufacturer has its own specific filling steps, but the whole process is like this:
- Four to eight litres of water are poured into the pressure tank. It is placed on the oven and the heating level is raised to a high level. You want to add enough water so that the canning machine does not leak during cooking, but not enough to cover the cans.
- The food you can store is heated and then placed in clean stone pots.
- The edges of the masonry boxes have been cleaned. The lids are put on and the cans are then placed in the water in the pressure tank.
- The lid of the can is fixed and put under pressure, which in the jargon means that the water in the can is boiled and the pressure in the can begins to build up until it reaches a certain temperature. Your canning factory will inform you via the dial when this temperature point is reached.
- Food can be processed for a certain period of time (which must be adapted to your size).
- The heating is turned off and the can has time to cool down before the lid and cans are removed.
- Cans can be refrigerated 24-36 hours before being stored in a larder or cellar.
How to find the best pressure generator for your kitchen
By investing time in choosing the right pressure drum for your kitchen, you guarantee a smooth running of your conservation work. Modern weapons start at about $65, but can go up to $500. To determine the optimum pressure vessel for your kitchen, you need to consider 4 things:
1. Size. The size of the can you need to buy mainly depends on the number of people you plan to buy. Most experts recommend buying cans that can contain both pint and quartz, because you don’t want to be limited to pint cans. The pressure vessel washers are shown in quarters. A canning plant with a maximum capacity of 21.5 quartz can, for example, contain 7 quartz or 19 pints. Pay attention to the number of boxes the machine can hold in order to get as accurate a picture of the size as possible.
2. Nameplate. If you own a glass plate, you should only use weapons that explicitly indicate that they are safe to use on glass plates. You can’t use heavier weapons.
If you have an electric stove, it is also suitable for tinned food, but if you have a gas stove, be careful not to set the heating too high.
3. Price. The price of the goods is always important. Waiting for the sale. Depending on the amount of food you can consume, your canning system can pay for itself in a year. If you are new to the canning industry and don’t want to spend a lot of money, Presto Guns is an excellent choice at a low price; however, if you only want to buy one canning factory in your life, you should consider all American weapons. They are produced in the United States and are considered to be first class canneries.
4. Maintenance. If you buy a preserving machine with a comparator, you must deliver the comparator once a year to your local municipal service centre for it to be checked. They ensure that the scale accurately indicates the correct ISP. This is not necessary with a weighted pressure gauge holder. A weighing unit is a unique control system that whistles, shakes and swings back and forth. It all depends on how much time you are prepared to invest in the maintenance of your canning factory.
Pressure cooker vs. pressure cooker: What’s the difference?
Printed packaging is used to preserve products in tins and must, according to the law, be able to contain at least 4/4 tins. As mentioned above, all weapons are equipped with a detachable holder, a ventilation opening, a lock with a ventilation cover and a safety catch.
By comparison: Pressure cookers or pots are small and are not designed for handling pot covered food. Pressure plates heat and cool faster than pressure plates. In summary: Pressure cookers are made for cooking – they are not canned.
They are often mistakenly thought to be interchangeable, but the USDA and the National Center for Home Canning strongly oppose this. Because pressure cookers heat up and cool down faster than pressure cookers, canned foods can be processed long enough in the pressure cooker to destroy harmful microorganisms. Due to the thickness of the cans and the different dimensions of the pressure cookers, it is simply not possible to set the time reliably.
That’s why pressure cylinders are cool!
You may have thought about conservation, but you thought that just isn’t for me; or isn’t worth all the effort.” If this sounds familiar, you may not be aware of all the benefits that pressure guns can offer. These are some of the great things about them:
- There is growing concern about the amount of GAP in commercially canned food, so many interested parents have started making their own cans. With canned food you can make your own safe and healthy BPA and preservatives.
- If you can feed yourself, you pollute the environment as little as possible. This reduces, for example, the amount of waste associated with packaged food. Just like your cans are reusable. Plus, the jam you just made went from the sink to the pantry instead of traveling thousands of miles across the country in a burps bus.
- Like I said, guns pay for themselves in a short time, but they also save you money. If you buy fresh food for the canning industry during the season, there are plenty and they are cheap. It’s a cheap way to store your groceries in the pantry, and you’ll be surprised how quickly you can imitate some of those decadent jams you easily drool over to spend money on.
- Don’t waste it, you don’t want it. What, you’re just full of tomatoes and zucchini? Do your neighbors pretend to hide when you come in with a load of pickles? You must not waste your extra crop by conserving it. If your garden is too rich, it’s time to embrace your pressure sprayer.
- Finally, there is an aspect of personal satisfaction that needs to be taken into account. If you thought knitting was one of your hobbies, you have nothing against guns. Canning is more than practical. It offers a strong link with the past – heritage, culture and family.
