Pressure cookers are a great way to prepare tasty, nutritious and healthy food… …fast.
I designed this website to help you find the pressure cooker that best suits your budget, lifestyle and general needs.
Not all pressure cookers are made in the same way and you may not be sure which one is right for you. Don’t just look for the top model, find the model that fits your needs.
In this Buyer’s Guide we look at what to look for when buying a pressure cooker and give some useful tips on what to look for. After reading this guide, you will know exactly what to look out for when reading reviews of pressure cookers.
My top five pressure cookers:
In the diagram below you will find what I think are the best pressure cookers on the market. If you click on the link Our review, you will get a detailed overview of each model.
Before you buy, it is important to know which pressure cooker meets your cooking and living needs. An excellent starting point is to choose the type you want. Then discover the features of each model and how they fit into your kitchen style. It is then possible to restrict certain trademarks and designs.
After reviewing dozens of different brands and models, we have compiled a comparison table to help you easily determine which pressure cooker is right for you. Each model was evaluated and received a total score of 5. We also looked for a better price and tied it in.
Electric or stove?
Which model is best for you?
Electric pressure cookers (also known as digital pressure cookers) offer various pre-defined pressure settings, while the traditional version requires manual operation by the pressure cooker.
This means that electric pressure cookers are easier to use and more flexible in what you can cook, as they can be used for slow and steam cooking. Targeted programmes often focus on poultry, meat, fish, rice, soup, etc. They are also generally safer than conventional products and can be used anywhere in the kitchen.
The electric pressure plate starts to move the plates. But before you rush to buy, remember that the traditional type can be synonymous with simplicity and accessibility. The stove can also be used as a frying pan, making it an ideal choice for some people.
The advantages of
- More parameters for the flexible kitchen
- Digital Operating Systems
- Maybe easier for inexperienced cooks.
- Can be used anywhere in the kitchen.
- It’s usually safer.
- More expensive than a stove.
- No more parts to break
- Usually a smaller size
Higher pressure baking trays
The advantages of
- Cost reduction
- Can be used as a standard pot
- Could be easier to use
- We supply in large sizes
- Not as safe as electric heaters.
- Less cooking possibilities
- Not mobile
- No built-in timer.
Most people believe that the ideal pressure cooker should be electric, and many consumers agree. But think about what you need before you commit: Availability and simplicity or a wide range of parameters and uses?
Aluminium and stainless steel are used for pressure cookers, but which one is the best?
The pressure cookers are made of two materials: Aluminium and stainless steel.
Steel is undoubtedly preferable because it is stronger than aluminium and looks more elegant. However, this power is more expensive. If your budget is limited, start with aluminium sheets – there’s no reason why aluminium isn’t perfect for you – after all, it’s a great heat conductor and it’s lightweight.
But if money isn’t a problem, better buy stainless steel. Stainless steel is wear-resistant and because it reacts less with food, it will experience much less corrosion and wear and tear. Stainless steel is the right choice when durability and longevity are key. But beware, stainless steel can be heavy. This can be a problem if you decide to use a large pressure cooker. When you buy a commercial pressure cooker, you absolutely want to use stainless steel.
Aluminium is cheaper and stainless steel is more expensive. There is no right or wrong option, but stainless steel is of better quality and lasts longer. If you plan to use your pressure cooker regularly, we recommend stainless steel.
Brand and model
There are many brands and models, so shop around the world
Choose a brand you know and trust. It can be tempting to find a cheap option from a little-known brand, but don’t forget that electric pressure cookers may need replacement parts over time. In this case you need a serious and reliable company. Once you have identified a number of brands, examine the specific models and take a critical look at the features to see if they meet your needs. This will help you choose the right pressure cooker.
Some popular brands are listed below. This list is not exhaustive, but should be a good starting point for identifying high quality trademarks and designs. They have all been selected based on their best scores and their popularity with customers.
- Instant Pot is one of the most popular brands with one of the best reviews on the internet. High quality options include the IP-LUX-60 and the IP-DUO60 (which I recommend), which is one of the most popular and high quality options.
- Kuhn Rikon – This Swiss brand is generally more affordable than many other brands and has an elegant European design. Among their main categories are the Duromatic Inox pressure cookers and the hotel series.
- Fagor is a prestigious Spanish brand that offers a wide range of possibilities for all budgets. One of their most popular offers is the Duo Top Line board.
- All American is a classic American brand with a more industrial vocation that makes it possible to cook in large quantities. Strength and consistency are the hallmarks of this brand. The 921 is the best-rated model – don’t forget that this brand is designed for large budgets.
- Secura – Many Internet users have shown that this brand offers a solid construction at affordable prices, even though the electronics are not as advanced as other brands.
- MaxiMatic – With a slightly different style than other brands, MaxiMatic offers high quality pressure cookers, including the EPC-807.
The above is the starting point for determining the right pressure plate for you. These brands are known for their quality and reliability. Favourites in the industry are Cusinart, All-American and Instant Sweat, but they all deserve special attention. Look at other tests to make sure that other people’s experiences are positive.
Warranties may vary by brand and model, so please choose carefully.
If you stick to a well-known brand, as we recommend, your pressure cooker is unlikely to break. But as we all know, it can go wrong, and it can go wrong. If kitchen appliances break down through no fault of your own, you want the manufacturer to replace or repair them. The pressure cookers available on the market offer a very wide range of guarantees from 1 to 10 years.
Depending on the model you choose, you can spend a lot more than you expected. Always consider the warranty period for each model you consider. Please note that the longer the warranty period, the more it can be repaired or replaced free of charge. In addition, the quality of the product is also measured, because manufacturers who offer a long-term warranty tend to place more trust in the construction and design. Below you will find the best guarantee conditions for pressure cookers:
- Presto 12 years.
- Faroor 10 years
- Cusinart 3 years
Don’t forget that a longer guarantee is a sign of quality and means you don’t have to worry about repairing or replacing the pressure cooker. As a general rule, the use of pressure cookers with a guarantee of less than one year should be avoided.
It is important to choose the right size, as the capacity of pressure cookers can vary considerably.
When researching pressure cookers, keep in mind that they are available in different sizes, but the standard sizes are 4, 6 and 8 litres. There are larger options, even up to 23 litres, but they are designed for professional kitchens, not for home cooking. It’s worth thinking about the different sizes, because it’s not necessary to buy a larger plate than necessary, because it can cost more and take up more space.
- 4 quarters – this size is ideal for individuals or couples who don’t need to cook multiple servings. It’s pretty small.
- Quarter 6 – This is the most popular size and is considered the standard size for family holidays. It has to be able to handle multiple servings.
- The Q8 is the best choice for families with a lot of children or if you are planning to have several guests.
- 10 shifts – 10 shifts and more, generally for professionals who cook for a large number of people. A professional kitchen or catering company can use a kitchen of this size. Plates of this size are also used for the preservation of food.
Don’t forget that 6 blocks is the standard size and meets the needs of most people. In case of doubt, it can’t hurt to buy a slightly larger size to ensure that all your needs are covered.
When viewing models, the various functions can be confusing. Here are some tips to make reading the announcements easier
This may seem insignificant, but the pressure cooker must have handles so that it can be easily lifted. This means that pens that do not conduct heat are the last thing you want to do, that is burn your hands. This is especially important for stoves that have to be switched on and off when they are very hot. Don’t forget that water-filled printing plates can be very heavy.
No glue, no thanks!
If you are looking for a pressure cooker, a non-stick coating seems like a good idea. After all, it works well in pots and pans. However, due to the way in which the pressure cookers are fried and the long use of the pressure cookers, the non-stick surface breaks off and can come loose. High pressure means that the non-stick material cannot survive as long as it is in a normal frying pan. It could end up in the food. Even though it’s not particularly harmful, it’s certainly not what you want to eat.
All the best pressure cookers should have a clear and easily readable pressure gauge. In order to follow the recipes correctly, it is necessary to measure the pressure accurately. It’s also about safety – the indicator tells you when the pressure is too high and lets you know when it’s time to let go. The safest pressure cookers are equipped with reliable pressure gauges.
Quick release valve
This function allows you to release the pressure and stay warm. It allows you to open the lid and lower the temperature to a controlled level.
With a folder you can cook anything (as far as possible), but an electronic program can make it easier for you. Think of models that offer different pre-installed programs where you simply select the type of food (e.g. fish), press a button and everything is ready for you. Some models serve poultry, meat, beans, chili, porridge, rice and much more. Some programs are easier to use than others. Check out our reviews of electric pressure cookers to make sure they’re simple and intuitive.
It goes without saying that a pressure washer is ideal and that many of them can be put in the dishwasher immediately after use. Manual cleaning of the pressure cooker can be cumbersome and in some cases, depending on the model, quite difficult. This component is often overlooked when assessing pressure cookers, so always pay attention to the resistance of the dishwasher in the product description.
Locking mechanism Cover
Safety is very important for all kitchen appliances, and pressure cookers are no exception. Whether they are operated conventionally or electrically, they must be equipped with a lid lock for reliable pressure control. This is a safety system designed to stop the pressure until the lid is properly closed. Indeed, steam under pressure can be very dangerous and requires good management. Steam can cause severe burns. All pressure cookers must have this function as standard. If not, don’t do it. The electrical panels should control it automatically. This is not only a characteristic of the best pressure cookers, it is also necessary to adapt them.
It is important to know that different pressure cookers can have different pressure properties. In order to cook at a certain temperature, a certain pressure must be reached. Don’t forget that most prescriptions require 15 pounds of pressure – anything else will produce disappointing results. Deep fryers are usually equipped with setting 15, while other cookers offer other settings, including 5, 10 and 15. The greater the pressure range, the greater the possibilities for different cooking styles. Make sure that the chosen pressure cooker can carry 15 pounds. The other print settings at the top are a bonus. The best pressure cookers offer a wide variety of settings.
Shelves and baskets
Many pressure cookers are equipped with holders and baskets that make it possible to separate different dishes in a single pressure cooker. This way you can cook several things at once, which can be very useful and save you time. This pressure cooker can be used for the preparation of most dishes.
Checking the compatibility of the pressure cooker with the hob.
If you look at high-pressure ovens, it is very important to know if they work with your type of oven. Most should work on all thermal surfaces, but it is always worth checking. Do you have a gas, induction or electric heater? Always check the compatibility of the pressure cooker you have purchased. It doesn’t matter if you buy the best pressure cooker on the market if it doesn’t work on your stove.
Compressor heaters, whether hobs or electric heaters, are complex devices with different functions and details that need to be understood. Please read the above carefully for a complete overview before purchasing.

Why pressure cookers are so great!
Pressure cookers are recovering with young chefs seeing the potential of different cooking styles.
You’re probably wondering about the pressure cookers. You may remember that your grandmother uses an old-fashioned oven that gives off whistle and steam. To many they seem outdated and out of fashion. But they’ll come back, and rightly so. These are some of the great things about them:
- They are ideal for preparing quick meals. As your food heats up much faster because of the pressure, your food will be cooked much faster.
- They’re thrifty. Of course the stove is not very cheap, but in the long run you can really save money with it. Pressure cookers are great for making cheaper pieces of meat.
- As the cooking time is reduced by 70%, you should see your electricity bill go down. Shorter cooking times also mean that this is an environmentally friendly cooking method.
- Pressure cookers allow dishes to retain their nutrients better, making them healthier and more nutritious.
- It’s very simple. Deep fryers, especially electric cookers with preset programs, allow you to cook delicious meals at home without too much effort.
- Old-fashioned pressure cookers have been used as a kitchen raw material for decades. However, they fell out of sight because they weren’t as safe as they should have been. Fortunately, this is no longer a problem, because modern models have better safety features.
- The pressure cooker makes the various pans on the cooker superfluous, reducing the amount of soiling during cleaning. This makes the pressure cookers the ideal time saver for busy people.
- Pressure cookers can also be used for food preservation. That’s why they’re called guns.
The fact is that faster cooking, in combination with better pressure cookers, has a number of benefits for the environment and your health. With pressure cookers you can also prepare various delicious dishes.
