How long does it take to prepare a pork roast in a pressure cooker?
Before you even think about how long a pork roast will cook in a pressure cooker, there are a few things you need to understand:
– Normally we start cooking with raw meat. In this case, you must not keep the meat out of the refrigerator for more than 2 hours, otherwise it will die, or if the temperature of the room where you keep the raw pork is higher than 32°C (90°F) for a maximum of 1 hour.
– If you are using a stove with the delay program (such as Instant Pans), do not set the time for more than 1 or 2 hours. It is best to precook the meat and then use the heating mode to get the right temperature for the pork.
– Another tip for those who use the instant pot can be the pig mash, which shuts off the juices under pressure in stir-fry mode before cooking.
– Finally, if you can start with the shortest cooking time, you always have the time to continue cooking under pressure for a few minutes until the desired texture is reached.
- So for cooking a pork roast is the correct time for a 450 gram (1 pound) piece 20 minutes.

Pressurised pig brandies

Pressurised grilled pig’s head. Tender pot, roast pork – thanks to the pressure cooker – ready in a few hours.
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 3 to 5 pounds of roast pork shoulder (also known as Boston perch roast), cut in half
- 1 ½ Coffee spoon fine sea salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 large onion, peeled and diced
- 3 crushed garlic cloves
- 15-ounce sliced tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons of dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 glass of hard cider (or cider, or chicken stock, or water)
- 1 pound of baby carrots (or 1 pound peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces)
- 1 apple, peeled, powdered and sliced
- Season and Research: Cut the pork roast in half and then sprinkle 1 teaspoon ½ with salt and 1 teaspoon ½ with freshly ground black pepper. Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil at a medium or high temperature until it overflows. (If the stir-fry mode is useful, turn up the volume) Search for the pig roast one by one. For every detail you have to look on both sides while the brown is present, it takes about four minutes on each side. After frying, place the pork in a bowl and let it rest so that it can continue with the other parts of the recipe.
- Taste bottom:Now, when you put the garlic and onion in the pan, sprinkle with thyme, coriander and soy, stir the browned pieces of pork and scrape them into the bottom of the pan. Sota, the time needed to soften the onions is about five minutes. Then pour in some hard cider, bring to the boil and let it boil for 1 minute to bring a little alcohol to the boil.
- Everything in pot: Now things are getting interesting! Put the pork in the pot and pour the juice into the bowl. Place the diced tomatoes, carrots and a sliced apple on the pork.
- Prepare the pot for pressure roasting for 50 minutes with natural pressure relief: Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook under high pressure for 50 minutes in an electric PC or 45 minutes in an oven. Let the pressure drop by itself, it’ll take about two minutes.
- Degrease the sauce, slice the roast and serve: Carefully place the pieces of pork on the wire shelf with pliers or a spoon, because at this stage the pork is very tender. Then spoon the vegetables into the serving dish with a spoon. Pour the remaining liquid into the grease reservoir. Cut the roast into slices half a centimetre thick. Sprinkle the slices of roast with salt and then pour greaseproof sauce over the roast. Serve the rest of the sauce and put the vegetables aside.
Serve with mashed potatoes to facilitate absorption of the sauce. (Or bread with a crispy crust is another option for a good sauce).

Pressure Cooked Pork Roast
Boiling time: 15 minutesBoiling time: 3 hoursYield: 6-8 servings Method: Pressure cooker
- 3 + pork roast
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced meat
- 1,000 billion salt
- 1 flake of pepper
- 1 American Cayenne
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 2 packs of brown sauce mix
- 2 glasses of water
- Pin the top of your roast pork.
- Season to taste with all dry herbs.
- Fill the roast with 1/2 onion and whole garlic.
- Pour oil into the pressure cooker and turn it over.
- After heating, the roast is first combed on the top (fat side) for about 3 minutes.
- Turn around and look down for three minutes.
- Sprinkle the remaining onions with the fried onions.
- In a small bowl, mix two bags of brown sauce with two cups of water. Then pour this mixture over the roast.
- Close and lock the lid.
- Cook for 3 hours under high pressure.
- Personally I like to cook my roast in 60 minutes with a 5 minute NPR (a small pressureless trigger lets steam escape and you don’t get a hot sauce!) By cooking at shorter intervals I can adjust the time to the size of the roast and make sure the sauce is spicy enough during cooking.
- If the roast does not fall apart after 3 hours, cook it under high pressure with a hand puller at 20-minute intervals until the meat is tender.
TIP: If you’ve ever made a pork roast and it was difficult at the end, the problem is usually that you didn’t cook it long enough. The longer you cook the pork roast, the sweeter it will be. If you use an oven or a pot, let it cook for at least 12 hours. And if it is the pressure cooker, the cut can take up to 4 hours, depending on the size.
Roasted pork in a pot

- 2 pounds tenderloin
- kosher salt, sea salt, flavourings
- fresh cracked black pepper, it tastes like
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 medium onion, diced
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced meat.
- 2 medium sized carrots, minced
- 2 stalks of celery, crushed
- 1/2 glass of broth or apple juice
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 2 teaspoons of green vegetables of your choice – dried or fresh (rosemary, basil, oregano, thyme, etc…).
- 1 tablespoon corn starch in tablet form
- 1/4 cup of water
- Season the pork to taste with salt and pepper. Turn on the instantaneous tank in Sauté mode, add oil and melt. Then put on the pork loin and search the sides of the loin until you get a good golden brown color. Then add the garlic and onion and cook until done, which takes about 2 minutes.
- Carrots, celery, broth or apple juice, worcestersauce, brown sugar, mustard and vegetables
- Close the lid, adjust the high pressure and once the pressure cooker has reached its full pressure, cook for 15 to 30 minutes*, depending on the size and the desired volume. You must press the Cancel button to stop Sota mode, then press the Manual button and set the timer to 15 minutes.
- Press Cancel at the end of the cooking time and release the pressure gently. If possible, check the internal temperature of the pig loin (it should be about 145°F).
- Remove the tenderloin from the instant-pot (keep the juice in the instant-pot), cover it with a lid and let it rest for about 10 minutes, depending on the size of the loin and taste.
- Mix the cornstarch with water. Put some juice in the instant pot. Turn the instant-pot over the stir-fry and cook until it is thick. Try the herbs and add salt and pepper to taste.
Tip: If you are not sure of the cooking time of a particular roast, prepare a loin of pork until it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F at its thickest point. The higher the temperature, the drier the loins will be, i.e. if possible the temperature in the oven will not exceed 145°F. You can also prepare this recipe on a slow cooker, and if your appliance has a search function or a sauce function such as the instant pot, this can be a great help!
